The first time, Pekanbaru was from a village in the side of Siak river. formerly, It was just a small village which called Payung Sekaki. The village was developped by Senapelan tribe which lived in the round of the river. Payung Sekaki became to Senapelan in the some years.
Administration system of Senapelan tribe used Kebatinan like Kingdom system. formerly, siak Sri Indrapura Kingdom was led by Sultan Siak IV Rajo Alam. He Had Surenamed Sultan Abdul Jalil Alamuddin syah. the capital of Kingdom Siak was in Senapelan on 1775.
In 1766-1780, The economic developed in Petapahan.
